Imagine being part of an elite group of individuals who have the power to shape the future of your country. A group of 36 Ugandan scholars is about to embark on a life-changing journey to the UK, where they will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to make a lasting impact.

But what sets these scholars apart, and what can they expect from their time in the UK?

In a heartwarming farewell ceremony, Deputy High Commissioner Ms. Tiffany Kirlew bid adieu to the scholars, urging them to remain true to their principles and use their skills to create positive change. The Chevening scholarship program, funded by the UK government, offers a fully funded one-year master's degree in any field at any of the UK's top universities. The Commonwealth Scholarships, offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, aim to nurture talented and aspiring change-makers who would otherwise not be able to afford an education in the UK.

In its 41st year of existence, the Chevening scholarship programme has produced over 300 Chevening beneficiaries who have come back home to make a positive change in their communities. The Chevening Alumni Association currently has a network of 314 members from different backgrounds who have delivered on several impactful activities including in climate change, health, education to support to people with disabilities, run mentorship and leadership programmes to mention but a few.

20 Chevening scholars have been selected for the scholarship for academic year 2024/2025 and more than 16 Commonwealth scholars for 2024/2025 academic year (AY).

The 36 scholars, who are part of the Chevening and Commonwealth scholarship programs, are about to embark on a journey that will take them from being ordinary individuals to global leaders. They will join a network of over 300 Chevening beneficiaries who have made a positive change in their communities.
