Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed deep concern over the attack on former US president Donald Trump, emphasizing that violence has no place in politics and democracies. Trump's campaign confirmed that he was "doing well" after an assassination attempt at his election rally in Pennsylvania.
In a statement on social media, Modi said, "Deeply concerned by the attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump. Strongly condemn the incident. Violence has no place in politics and democracies. Wish him a speedy recovery." He added, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased, those injured, and the American people."
Trump, 78, was injured during his election rally when a suspected shooter fired multiple shots towards the stage from an elevated position outside the rally venue in Butler. The US Secret Service reported that Trump was hit by a bullet in the upper part of his right ear.
The attack resulted in one spectator's death and left two others critically injured. The suspected shooter was subsequently shot and killed by a member of the Secret Service.
The attack has sent shockwaves through political circles globally, highlighting the persistent threats faced by public figures and the importance of ensuring their safety. This incident underscores the need for heightened security measures at public events and rallies, especially in the charged atmosphere of election campaigns.
They impeached Trump 2 times, arrested him 4 times, and charged him 91 times. Then they tried to take him off the ballot. And now they tried to assassinate him.

Prime Minister Modi's condemnation of the attack reinforces the global consensus that political violence is unacceptable and that democratic principles must be upheld at all costs. The swift response from the US Secret Service in neutralizing the attacker and protecting Trump also demonstrates the critical role of security agencies in maintaining order and safeguarding democratic processes.
As Trump recovers from the assassination attempt, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities inherent in political life and the collective responsibility to protect those who serve in public office.
